Public safety — Industry & tourism

Construction sites, outdoor festivals, golf resorts, and coastal tourism need fast storm awareness. This view tracks lightning movement across the region and runs a mock nowcast forward in five-minute steps.

Live movement & mock nowcast

Playback replays the mock ~1 hour live feed in 5-minute volumes (actual UTC timestamps). Every volume is labelled LIVE; activity accumulates through the session so quiet intervals still show earlier strikes. After the last live volume (e.g. 22:30 UTC), a mock nowcast extrapolates storm motion forward by +5 through +30 minutes, then the loop restarts.

Activity field

Charge sources are gridded on a 2 km near-ground plane and mapped to an activity scale from 5 to 50 dBZ (blue → green → yellow → orange → magenta). Weak areas fade smoothly; the strongest clusters in each volume reach 50 dBZ.
